Promoting your Club or Society

There are lots of options to promote your Club or Society and it’s a great way to get people along to your events.

O Week:

O Week is a fantastic time to recruit new members for your club or society. Most clubs know that they are able to have a booth at the expo, but did you know there are opportunities for clubs to put on demonstrations as well? Information about O Week stalls, including where to book your stall, can be found here. If your club is interested in putting on a special demonstration, please email Campus Life.

Yak Magazine:

Yak is a student mag written by students, for students. There is a monthly events spread so you can submit your events to yakmagazine@newcastle.edu.au (3 weeks prior to end of month for the next edition).

Posters:

The U can put posters in their frames around Bar on the Hill and Shortland Building as well as on noticeboards in the Hunter Building. Simply drop in to the Glasshouse, Bar on the Hill by Thursday the week prior.  Any posters not in the frames will be removed, however you can put them up on student noticeboards around campus (be aware that the University has a Banner and Poster Procedure in place that you will need to comply with).

Website:

The U has a profile on all registered and/or affiliated sporting and social clubs. Contact us at campus-life@newcastle.edu.au if you want the information on your Club or Society to be updated. You can find the different affiliated non-sporting clubs on the website of the organisation that the Club is affiliated with. You can find all postgraduate clubs on the website of NUPSA, affiliated sporting clubs at NUsport, and all non -sporting clubs at UoN Services or NUSA.

Promo Booths:

The U can provide you with a free booth inside Bar on the Hill or the Shortland Building. To lock in a date pop into the Glasshouse during office hours or email campus-life@newcastle.edu.au. Booths have power if requested, a table, backing board and two chairs. You just provide pins and any posters or promo material. You can also come along to the O Week Expo or monthly markets to chat to students about your club for free.

App:

The U at UoN is a free smartphone app that is a student diary and also gives clubs the chance to put up info about events and their club. Contact campus-life@newcastle.edu.au for further info and to get access to the App.

Noticeboards:

There are student noticeboards around the campus that you can put posters on including the one between Subway & Pinkies in the Shortland Building and those outside the Auchmuty Library and Hunter Building.

Facebook:

The U can help promote your Club or Society event on our facebook page. Simply email campus-life@newcastle.edu.au with the details. If your event is at Bar on the Hill we can promote it on the Bar on the Hill page. Start your own facebook page for your Club or Society to boost numbers and keep everyone up to date.
