Yak Media

In literal terms a Yak is a long-haired bovine creature that can be found in the Himalayas. In UoN terms, Yak is your first port of call for all things media: run by UoN students, for UoN students.

Made by students, for students, Yak features interesting and humorous stories, different takes on life, technology and entertainment, alongside information about University services that are useful to the campus community. These days you can get your Yak Media fix in print via the magazine, digitally via the Yak blog or you can watch Yak TV online.

You can get involved with Yak Media by signing up as a contributor or volunteering for a range of media and editorial roles with the core Yak Media team. Students from all faculties and campuses are encouraged to apply.

  • Yak Magazine: The monthly glossy print publication allows any student to stay updated on or contribute to important topics in university life. You can pick up a Yak Magazine at press points across the University or view it online.
  • Yak TV: Yak TV is UoN’s web-video channel keeping you up to date with everything happening in your world. Yak TV showcases the talents of UoN’s very own students and features interviews with bands, event coverage and snippets of uni life.
  • Yak Digital: In 2014, Yak took a step into the wide world of blogging. The digital team is headed up by a keen group of UoN students determined to bring you the best bits of lifestyle, uni life and entertainment in one easy-to-click bite!
