Festival of Autonomy
‘Twas the 1st day of January, 1965 that the illustrious University of Newcastle was declared autonomous from its forebearer, the University of New South Wales as decreed by the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Eric Winslow Woodward. Since that fateful day, students at UoN have celebrated the Uni’s independence with celebrations in Semester 2 of each year, and 2012 will be no different.
In fact, this year the U is excited to announce the celebrations will be extended to cover a full week and include a broader range of events to capture the interest of any and every student on campus.
The week’s celebrations are still in development, but some of the fun things to look out for are historic re-enactments, campus markets, gigs, parties, debates, comedy, and much, much more. Follow our tumblr to keep up to date with all our announcements as they come to hand!
