You are here: Home Accommodation On Campus Future Residents Where can you live Barahineban

The hardest part about living at Barahineban is pronouncing it. Try this: BA (like a sheep), RAH (like a monster) HIN (as in something is Hinkey, without the key), A (the mark you hope to get) and BAN (what you hope not to get). Barahineban is an Awabakal word meaning “a bright place to live”, as are the people who live there.

Barahineban, or Bara for short, is a home away from home in a unique College community.  It's the smallest of the Colleges built around a central courtyard, offering 96 self-contained studio style apartments available in differing bed configuration (single, twin for friends or double for couples) with a private kitchenette, ensuite and study area.

Living in Bara offers privacy and an independent lifestyle, and is perfect for students looking for a balanced academic and social living environment.

College Life

In conjunction with the ResLife team, the Barahineban Residents Association Committee (BRAC) organise a variety of activities including sporting events, parties, college dinners, charity and cultural functions and much more.  BRAC consists of a group of residents who are elected into positions at the end of the previous year. Positions are available every year for first year representatives if you are interested in immersing yourself within the college culture.

Living Arrangements

You will be more than comfortable with a split cycle air conditioner, heating system, partially equipped kitchenette containing saucepans, knives and cooking utensils, as well as an ensuite. Residents must bring their own dining utensils or may purchase dining packs containing 1x large plate, 1x small side plate, 1x bowl, 1x drinking glass, 1x coffee/tea mug, 1 each x knife, fork and spoon, through the accommodation portal. Each room is supplied with a bed, wardrobe, study desk and chair, small dining table and chairs, mirror, notice board, bookshelf, television, DVD player, desk lamp and cupboards.

If you want a twin or double room configuration, make sure you tell us who you would like to share with, as we strongly recommend that it is someone you know and comfortable with, as you will be living in close proximity.
