Applying for Accommodation

When you have found the accommodation you want to rent, the landlord/real estate agent will have you sign a tenancy agreement. This agreement will outline  the length of your tenancy and your rights and responsibilities. When applying for accommodation it is important to be aware of your rights and responsibilities as a tenant. It is important to read documents carefully and to understand the terms and conditions involved when signing a tenancy agreement or lease.

Below are a list of documents you may need when applying for accommodation.

  • Personal reference (in English)
  • Copy of you passport with visa information
  • Banking information
  • Copy of your University of Newcastle enrolment
  • Identification documents (drivers license, Medicare card)
